What is MIND..? - Sri Sri
Jai GuruDev.. A window to your soul : We lead life through three main states of
consciousness — 1 :waking, 2 :dreaming and 3 :sleeping. In the waking state of consciousness,
we experience the world through the five senses, sight, smell, touch, hearing or taste. We
seek elevation and joy from these senses.
For instance, we only want to look at something that is a source of joy,
not at something likely to sadden us. If any one of the senses is missing, the entire dimension of that sense is lost. One
who can't hear is bereft of the whole arena of sound. Similarly, he who can't see is deprived of all the beautiful sights
and colours. So the sense is more important and much bigger than the object of the sense.
Each sense has a limited
capacity to enjoy — after all, how much can one see or hear or touch? However beautiful a sight, one cannot keep looking
at it. The senses get tired after a short period of time. The eyes close and we want to go back into ourselves because
every experience is an expense of energy.
What is MIND..?
Rated higher than the sense is the `mind'.
The mind is infinite; its desires are many. But the capacity of the senses to enjoy is small. This imbalance in the system
will remain. Greed is wanting more and more sensory objects — even though a person can eat only so much, he wants all
the chocolates in the world; though the amount (of money) that can be spent by an individual during a lifetime is limited,
he wants all the wealth in the world. This is greed. This is what is prevalent in the world today.
Giving too much importance to sensory objects leads to greed Giving too much importance to the senses leads to lust
and Giving too much importance to the mind and its desires leads to delusion. We hold on to the concepts
of the mind and want things to happen in a certain way. Thus, the concepts in our mind impede us from perceiving the infinite
consciousness that's a part of us.
I'm not saying that the senses or the mind are bad. But we must learn to discriminate
between things and be aware of what is happening at all times; that is when clarity dawns on us. This is the first step towards
the higher state of consciousness.
Then fourth (or the higher) state of consciousness is somewhere in between the
waking, sleeping and dreaming states; wherein we know ``we are'' but we don't know ``where'' we are. This knowledge that I
``am'' but I don't know ``where'' I am or ``what'' I am is called ``Shiva''. This state gives the deepest possible rest that
one can experience. The mind becomes fresh, delicate and beautiful.
In the waking state, one is constantly engaged
in looking, smelling, eating, etc. The other extreme is the sleeping state where one is completely cut off and dull. The dullness
and heaviness linger even after waking up. The more one sleeps, the duller one feels since a lot of energy is expended in
sleep. Hence, the fourth state, where we are awake and yet at complete rest, is worth knowing. And we enter this state only
during meditation.

‘It not your doing, but your Being’ What Sri Sri said today : Sadguru Pariwar
presented the Sadguru Bhushan award to Sri Sri in Pune, (India) on January 13.
While accepting the award, Sri Sri said
– ‘Maharashtra has been a land of Saints and will continue to be so. In every household there is a saint. In every
child there is a saint and in every saint, there is a child. The Sadguru group is doing a wonderful job of keeping alive the
traditions and cultures among children. This award is an excuse for us to sit together. There is only One doer. It not your
doing, but your Being. You don't become a saint with what you have done, but with who you are. How much compassion, service,
love one has in one's heart. The job gets done with the collective effort of so many people. But if we want our inner being
to shine then your own intention is enough. The wave of devotion and karmyog in Maharashtra must be always kept alive. Our
culture is to sing, dance and celebrate not to fight or dispute.
A girl from a village of Maharashtra - how she became
a queen, she made 181 temples, created an army of women to preserve Indian heritage. Every child must know this story of Ahilyabai
Holkar. Her life has been so well portrayed by a foreigner in India, Francois Gautier. This can be an inspiration for every
child in India.
The Sadguru Parivar must take the light of knowledge everywhere and I hope that it never gets extinguished.
The
inner light must always be kept alive.’

‘Let there be sweetness in our speech’
What Sri Sri said todayBangalore ashram, Jan. 14:
Today it is Sankranti in India, the harvest festival. Farmers
celebrate this day all over the country. In South India, it is called Pongal. People exchange sesame seeds and sugarcane with
each other. Whatever you receive first, you have to give away to somebody. We exchange things.
In ancient times there
was no money, only the barter system. Almonds were exchanged for apples, sugarcane with rice, there was always give and take
all over the world.
Today is the day everyone can exchange like that. Usually, sweets are given (jaggery and sesame
seeds). We have this and say, ‘Let us speak sweetly this year, let there be sweetness in our speech.’ “Have
a nice day, happy birthday” are modern day wishes, but in ancient times we say, ‘let us be sweet to each other,
may you speak sweetly,’ meaning, ‘The whole year, may you speak wisdom’.
We had a huge program in
Maharashtra, I have just come from there. In Maharashtra, it is said,
Tilgul ghya, Gud gud bola.
(Eat
tilgul (little balls of sesame seeds and jaggery); speak sweetly.)

Stupid or Intellegent!
If
you think you are stupid
Then...... you know who you are.
And if you know who you are......
You are enlightened!
And
if you are enlightened ,
Then ......you are certainly not stupid .
If you think you are intelligent ,
Then
you don't know who you are.
And if don't know who you are.....
Then you really ARE stupid!
Better realize
your stupidity ....and Be Enlightened!!!!!!.....[laughter]
