Dear Ones. Life is good. It is full of textures that one can experience through one’s senses. When you pet a cat, do you feel the softness of the fur? Can you feel the vibration of the purr? When you hold a baby, do you notice the softness of the skin? When you eat a Sloppy Joe, do you notice how it dribbles down your chin? When you walk barefoot across carpet, do you notice how the individual strands caress your feet? Expand your awareness of the life around you. Open to experiencing as many textures as you are able. The awakening man is conscious, heartfully defined. Through his eyes, being conscious is not a cerebral construct, nor an intellectual exercise bereft of feeling. It is a felt experience, an ever-expanding awareness that moves from the heart outward. It is feeling God, not thinking God. The new man is always in process, awakening through a deepening interface with the world of feeling. He continues to strive for a more heartfelt and inclusive awareness.

The awakening man has shifted his focus from a localized and ethnocentric perspective to a world-centric framework of perception. His community is humanity. Rooted in the relational, his sense of responsibility extends well beyond his localized self and community. Where possible, his choice-making is fuelled by an expansive vision of possibility for all of humankind. Not every man for himself, but every man for
humanity.

The awakening man has reverence for the divine feminine, in all her forms. He celebrates the wonder that is woman. He is respectful, honouring and gracious. He is saddened by the horrors perpetuated against women by the malevolent masculine. He holds his brothers accountable. He makes amends for his own misdeeds. He co-creates a world where all women will feel safe to move about freely, to find their voice, to actualize heir inherent magnificence. He welcomes a world where women and men stand as equal partners. Humankind.

The awakening man is not externally derived. He is authentically sourced. He does not compare himself to others. He does not adapt his personality to the dictates of the crowd. He stands in his own centre, respectful of others but not defined by them. He works diligently to liberate his consciousness from the egoic ties that bind. He has become his own benchmark, valuing authenticity over image. He is the sculptor of his own reality.

The awakening man courageously works on his emotional processes. He clears his emotional debris and sheds his armour. He faces his issues and unconscious patterns heart on. He calls himself on his self-avoidant tendencies and honours the wisdom at the heart of his pain. He communicates his feelings in a way that is respectful to others. He learns and speaks the language of the heart.

The awakening man leads a purpose-full existence. He has heard the call to a deeper life. Not satisfied with survival alone, his ambitions are rooted in higher considerations-the excavation and actualization of his sacred purpose. He is energized by his purpose, not by the machinations of the unhealthy ego. He is coated in an authenticity of purpose that sees through the veils to what really matters. His purpose is his
path.

The awakening man is accountable for his actions and their effects. He does not deflect responsibility. He does not sidestep or blame. He is self-admitting and emotionally honest. He admits his errors, and makes amends. He works diligently in the deep within, crafting a more clarified awareness with every lesson.

The awakening man moves from the inside out. More interested in inner expansion than outer achievement, he cultivates and honours his intuition. He explores and develops his inner geography. He adventures deep within, integrating the treasures he excavates into his way of being. He seeks congruity between his inner life and his outer manifestation.

The awakening man seeks wholeness. He is not satisfied with a fragmented way of being. He has no attachment to archaic, linear notions of masculinity. He seeks a sacred balance between the healthy masculine and the healthy feminine. He seeks an inclusive way of being, one that reflects all of his archetypal aspects.

The awakening man embodies the highest standard of integrity in his words and deeds. He makes a sustained effort to work through anything that is not integrity within him. His framework of integrity is never convenient or self-serving. He honours his word, even at his own expense. He moves from a value system that is unwaveringly incorruptible. He recognizes that success without integrity is karmically unsound and meaningless.

The awakening man prioritizes conscious relationship. He values authentic co-creation. He honours relationship as spiritual practice. He seeks physical intimacy that is deeply vulnerable and heartfully connective. He is attuned, engaged and healthily boundaried. When relational challenges arise, he courageously works through any obstructions to intimacy. He stands in the heartfire.

The awakening man is a warrior of the heart. He has taken his clarifying sword inward, cutting away everything that is not compassionate. After too many lifetimes with weapon in hand, a benevolent warrior is being birthed at the core of his being. He honours the warrior capacity for assertiveness, but he is not arbitrarily aggressive. He moves from love and compassion.

The awakening man endeavours to live in a state of perpetual gratitude. He is grateful for the gift of life. He is grateful for those ancestors who built the foundation that his expansion relies upon. He is grateful for those who encouraged him before he could encourage himself. He is grateful for those who stand beside him in this lifetime. He knows that he does not stand alone.

The awakening man is comfortable in his vulnerability. He participates in his own revealing. He is not afraid to surrender- to reality, to love, to truth. This is not a weakened form of surrender, but one that is emblazoned with courage. It takes more courage to surrender than to numb. He openly explores his capacities for receptivity and tenderness. He does not identify these capacities as distinctly feminine, but as whole human. He is strong enough at the core to live in a vast array of emotions.

The awakening man moves through the marketplace responsibly, with a vigilant eye to the ways of the unhealthy ego. He is not opportunistic in a vacuum. He does not compete for competition's sake. He does not accumulate for the sake of accumulation. In charting his course, he is mindful of his impact on humanity. He is empowered but he does not exploit power. He derives his power from his connection to source, not from power over others. Where possible, he shares the abundance, gifting back to humanity. He works hard to bridge the world as it is with a world of divine possibility.

The awakening man has reverence for Mother Earth. He has reverence for animals. He never imagines himself superior or distinct from the natural world. He understands the interconnected and interdependent nature of reality. He knows that if he does damage to the environment, he does damage to himself. He walks carefully, with awareness,
consciousness and appreciation.

The awakening man has no claims on God. His spirituality is tolerant, inclusive, respectful. He honours all paths to God, so long they are respectful of others. He accepts those who believe, and those who don't. He condemns any path that uses religious differences as a justification for destruction.

The awakening man brings forward many of the qualities of the healthy masculine of old. He is noble. He is responsible. He is productive. He is kind-hearted. He is protective. He is unswervingly honourable. He is down to earth. He is sturdy. He is flexible. He is realistic. He is hopeful. He is sensitive, not fragile. He is healthily egoic, not self-centred. He is both practical and heightened at the same time. He ascends with both feet on the ground. He is really here.

Each essence vibrates with its own sound—making it distinct from other forms. But within the diversity of sounds is the sound of Oneness—the sound of all creation and no creation—the sound of the universal I AM as it rings through all of life.

Remember now as I call forth this memory buried deep inside you. Remember now the Light and the Love that enveloped you. Remember the pure Love that wrapped you in its blanket of warmth and security.

I still AM. Wake up and know that I AM still loving you always—forever and ever. Know—know that I AM here. I have never and will never abandon you. How could I? We are One—One Essence flowing in and out of all things. I AM constantly with you—forever and ever.

There need never be a void or emptiness in your life. If there is, you are looking in the wrong direction. Look within and know that I AM. I AM the Love you miss. I AM the Love you feel. I AM the love you have forgotten. I AM the Love you remember. I just AM.

First and foremost, be still. Be still and know that I AM. Let your thoughts settle down. Let your feelings be calm. Let your body relax. And just Be. Be in the quiet within you.

There are many techniques for relaxation. There are many forms of meditation. You may gravitate to one form or another, depending upon the tendencies of your body and what you draw to yourself in your environment. Whether you use any of these techniques or not, find the space within yourself where there is peace and quiet.

Close yourself off in a room where you will not be bothered by outside distractions. Turn off the phone. Do not answer the door. Do whatever you need to do in order not to be disturbed. Then sit quietly in readiness and talk with Me. Yes, talk with Me within yourself. Ask for Me to make Myself known to you. Ask for My Guidance in your life. Ask for what you need. Then wait. Wait and listen. Feel My Presence begin to stir within you. Hear My Words as they bubble up inside. Listen for any guidance I might send your way. Listen. Wait and listen.

If you are not aware of My Response, My Stirrings, the first time you ask, do not give up. It is not that I do not answer. It is that you do not hear. There may still be a veil of illusion separating Us. You may find yourself trying to control the thoughts in your mind. If this happens, let it go and try again another time. But know—know—that I AM always there. I always, always answer. I AM constantly speaking in and through all things—always, always, always.

One day you may be able to hear Me. But even if you don’t, do not worry. Speak to Me anyway. Ask for My Guidance to be made clear to you. I speak in many ways. I may send a friend to tell you or show you something, and lo and behold, there you will find the answer you were seeking. Or there may be a knock on your door and you will be guided in some way as a result of your asking for My Guidance. Or the phone may ring or you may see something in the newspaper or you may have a dream or you may just wake up in the morning with an inner knowing. Whatever form it might take, do not be concerned. I work through all things. If you cannot hear Me within you, I will send you messages in some other form. Only know—truly know to the depths of your Being—that I AM—and I will always be.

Maybe one day you will realize that I have always been working through your life—one thing leading to another—drawing you closer and closer to Me. Sometimes the things that seem to draw you the furthest away from Me really bring you the closest—like an alcoholic who hits rock bottom and finally cries for My Help, or someone who goes financially broke and finally cries out to Me. But you do not need to hit rock bottom nor do you need to go broke to find Me.

Turn to Me now. Stop what you are doing and know Me to Be. The more you take time for Me, the more you will know Me. My Awareness will grow within you until finally you will know Me completely in every part of your life. So be still. Be still in mind and body. Be still in your awareness. And listen to the stillness within you speak.

Remember, even if you never hear Me speaking within you, trust that I AM. I AM One with the whole universe. I AM One with you. Know that I AM with you always. Then together We will create anew.

Whatever you want to achieve; whatever comes to mind; whatever feels that it is going to be joyful and enlightening for yourself and perhaps for others; to do that in great freedom and great joy, and not to worry about others, their responsibilities as they see it, or your responsibility to them.

All of my life I have been seeking the Holy Experience. All of my life I have known that the Holy Experience would reveal everything. Everything about God, everything about life, and everything about me. The only questions for me have been, what is the Holy Experience, and where can I find it?

Those questions have been asked by people all over the world since the beginning of time. Perhaps you have asked those questions, too. I have written a book that is the short story of how I found my answers. By telling you this story, perhaps I can help you to find your answers, too. I know that many of you have read one or more of my previous books, and so you may already have a few of the facts and details in this free book. Still, I wanted to create a context in this book within which the remainder of the messages placed there might be considered and experienced. And from time to time a brief excursion into my own past may prove instructive, even if, for you, it is a revisiting of information you already have about me.

This week, here in the Bulletin, and for the next couple of weeks here, I am going to share with you what I have told my readers in this free book, because I believe that a lot of us are on the same search, the same journey, the identical Expedition of the Soul. We are looking for God.

I began my search for the Holy Experience by looking where one might be expected to look. I began by looking to religion. It is entirely understandable that I would do that. I was born into a family that believed in religion as a means of getting to heaven. I was raised a Roman Catholic, and by age seven I had a deep and abiding faith in God. I did not doubt for a moment God's existence or God's benevolence.

I was not taught much about God's wrath at home. In fact, I was taught absolutely nothing about it. I think now, as I look back on it, that my mother did not believe in it. If my father did, he bowed to my mother's wishes not to "tell the kids about it" until it was time.

It was when I was sent to parochial school--St. Ignatius Elementary, on 36th and Mitchell, in Milwaukee--that I learned about a God who could become angry. It was there that I learned about the Ten Commandments. It was there that I learned about sin and punishment.

It was there that I learned how to make a Perfect Act of Contrition ("Oh, my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee...") in case I was in a car accident and found myself near death, or for some other reason discovered myself facing Judgment Day at an inopportune moment, not having gone to Confession for a while...

Confession was a big thing to me. We were told at St. Ignatius to go to Confession at least once a week. Saturday was the day set aside in our parish, as it is in most, so that one could receive Holy Communion at Mass on Sunday.

This is where the idea of my own imperfection first came up. This is where I picked up the thought that my soul must be "clean" before God would allow me to receive Him under my roof.

Until then I never had any doubt that all I had to do if I wanted God near me was to call out to Him. He would always be there, Mom told me, and I believed her. How could Mom be wrong about a thing like that? How could Mom be wrong about anything?

When your heart is full of love, you do not have a check list that you go through before you love. There are not certain standards that you impose on your heart. You let your heart be. You do not intercede on love’s behalf nor do you intercept or interrupt it. You simply radiate love, not just here or there, but everywhere.

It is not that you are intoxicated with love. You are simple unobtrusive love that knows no clock, that knows no determinant. Love loves because love loves. Nothing, not anything, vanquishes the love in a steady heart. You have adopted the world and all in it. You go steady with the world. Your heart is pinned to all. Your love does not go only to the most popular nor does your love go only to the most unpopular. Your love gives what everyone needs of it.

It is not that you are thinking about love constantly. It is just that your love is constant. I say your love. Of course, I mean My love in your heart is constant. Our love occurs without machination. Ego and its pal judgment fly out the window. It is natural to love. Any impediments to the naturalness of love are gone. It is no big to-do to love. It is so relaxing.

Whoever comes to your awareness, your heart finds joy in. You recognize My presence in everyone. And so you give your love to Me faultlessly, seamlessly. It is so easy to give love when there are no perimeters around it.

If you have built fences around your heart, and you have, admit that you have, now you dig up those fences, or you simply climb over them or go around them. In any case, they no longer exist for you. You never needed those fences. You thought you did. You thought you had to keep love out or under your command. You thought you had to love only sometimes, and only a little bit, only when you were compensated for it, or someone had earned your love by your measures.

Now you know that your love is measureless, real, evoked by itself. Your love requires not even a thank you. There are no limits to your love. There is no heartache, for your love is given silently and totally. You cannot help but give your love.

No longer are you something special because you love. It is ordinary for you to love. You are love, and your love emanates the way a rose spreads its essence. You become the attar of love. This is all because you see Me everywhere, and you know what you see.

You would not leave even one expression of Me loveless. You have become the lover of the Universe. You have expanded vision. You see that every molecule is made of My love. Every molecule of My love captures you. In one sense, you are simply responding to My love. Someone may scowl at you, and yet you see My smile.

You do not honor yourself for this growing love. You are thankful for it. You enjoy it, yet you do not pat yourself on the back for it. You know that the love you give is Mine. You know – I speak not of knowledge but of richness of heart -- you know that you are giving My love back to Me, and you think nothing of it.
