Seeking the Authentic

Seeking the Authentic
by Jennifer Hoffman
===================

As we refine our gifts of discernment and intuition, we can pinpoint the situations and people on our path that are not in alignment with who we have become and the energy we wish to have in our life. While we believe that we always seek authenticity, it is only when we are truly connected to our path that we are willing to pursue its lessons, sacrifices and responsibility. As student and teacher, we seek the authentic as we become aware of what does not resonate with our desire for truth and transparency in everyone and everything, and what is not authentic can be intolerable.

An acquaintance of mine is involved in a relationship that she has always told me was wonderful, perfect, fulfilling, etc.. But I had a much different feeling about her relationship, that it was strained, difficult, and on the verge of ending. Each time she talked about her relationship my ears would ring, my mouth would go dry and I would get very agitated. Finally I shared my feelings with her and she paused and slowly said that I was right, she and her husband were divorcing. My comments were not meant to hurt or anger her; I could no longer be around the inauthentic energy. Through our connection I can offer support and suggest alternatives, but I cannot support her inauthentic comments about her marriage as she tries to convince me of a different truth than the one I know.

As we seek authenticity anything that is not of that energy will feel strained or make us uncomfortable. We may lose our focus during a conversation and zone out of the discussion.   Being around someone who is inauthentic can make us angry or irritable. If I pick up a book whose information is not authentic for me, I can't read beyond the first few sentences.  Notice that I said 'inauthentic for me' because each of us has our own level of authenticity. And what works for me may not work for you and that doesn't make it completely inauthentic, it is just not right for me.

Whatever is authentic for us is at our energetic level, which varies fro moment to moment. As we become more confident with our energetic vibration we can connect to what is authentic for us at that level and disconnect from everything that isn't. And this cycle continues as we ascend the spiral that is our spiritual evolution. The more we are authentic with ourselves, the more we attract those things to us that resonate with what we desire. And we can lovingly detach from those things that do not.
