I avoid having things stuck in my arm as
much as possible.
However, I do know that having IV antibiotics saved my life in May 2009 when I was hospitalized -
for the first time in my life - with a life-threatening pneumonia.
My doctor was most excellent, he's been my physician
for nearly 20 years. He said, "I don't recommend any flu vaccine, but it would be a good idea to get a pneumonia vaccination,
it's good for 5 years and is just as good as any of the specialized stuff." So, I took it.
Besides, if you get any
kind of flu (H1N1 or even the seasonal) what ultimately kills you is pneumonia. So, get a time-tested pneumonia vac, and you
should be good to go.
