Food Guidelines as per H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji !

Jai Gurudev !

Guruji has been speaking strongly lately about the dangers of GM Foods
(Genetically Modified). He has called them "Bio-Terrorism". Organic foods
are never GM, while non-organic foods are often GM and/or contain toxic
pesticides and herbicides. In many cases organic foods are readily
available and cost only slightly more.
Guruji states:
We eat the crops that are cultivated by using chemical fertilizers. This
causes a lot of diseases in our body. Because of these fertilizers, soil
turns toxic and the produce from the soil in turn becomes toxic and our
body gets toxic substances as we eat them which cause disease and pain.
You know the white sugar is termed as white poison in western countries as
it stops the nutrients from being absorbed by the body. If you stop giving
them sugar, they will start getting healthier. So instead of white sugar
you should start consuming cane sugar or jaggery. (Raw, unheated organic
honey is also an acceptable sweetner in limited amounts).

On AOS courses focus on fresh organic ingredients as much as possible.
Certain foods are acceptable if not-organic, while other foods should be
served ONLY if they are organic. Most cheese is made with animal rennet
from cow intestines. Make sure if you buy cheese that it is vegetarian
AND organic. If the ingredients say "rennet" it is from cow intestines.

Guruji video on GM foods:

THESE 4 FOODS SHOULD ONLY BE SERVED WHEN ORGANIC

1.All dairy (cow milk, cheese, butter, yogurt)
2.All cheese must be organic AND vegetarian (read the label, 'rennet' is
animal product unless it says vegetable rennet).
3.All soy products (soy milk, tofu, tempeh)
4.Tomatoes (non-organic tomatoes have a fish gene inserted in the DNA)

The following are some of the MOST contaminated foods IF not organic:
5.Spinach
6.Lettuce
7.Potatoes
8.Apples
9.Imported Grapes
10.Strawberries
11.Blueberries
12.Cherries
13.Celery
14.Peaches
15.Nectarines
16.Carrots

Least Contaminated non-organic produce:
?Onions (not good for courses)
?Avocado
?Sweet Corn (Frozen)
?Pineapples
?Mango
?Asparagus
?Sweet Peas (Frozen)
?Kiwi Fruit
?Bananas
?Cabbage
?Broccoli
?Papaya

Alternative milk products such as Rice, Almond, Hemp, etc are better than
Soy Milk and they are readily available organic, READ THE LABEL to verify
Organic.

Don't serve any "Fake-meat" protein foods made with soy protein isolate.
You will NEVER find these products as organic, they won't qualify because
a highly toxic solvent (Hexane) is used to extract the protein. This
includes Soy TVP, DON'T SERVE IT.

Have hot water and herbal teas available throughout the course. Organic
ginger & mint are good choices to aid digestion among others. Don't put
out caffeinated teas.

Guruji states:
After 30 -32 years old everyone should take 3 Triphala tablets at night.
It sets right all the three doshas, vata, pitha and kapha in the body. It
eliminates toxins from the body. Even if there is a problem with the food,
Triphala clears the stomach and helps in good elimination the next
morning. It also maximizes anti-oxidization in the body. All of you should
take ?Triphala? and you can see the effect in your body within 5 to 7
days.

Guruji's Knowledge Sheet: Drop Your Intentions

Sri Sri: A strong tendency to keep doing something, whether important or unimportant, becomes an impediment to meditation. Doing starts first with an intention and then translates into action. Though intention springs from the Being, when it becomes doing it doesn’t let you settle down. All intentions, good or bad, trivial or important, need to be dropped for meditation to happen.

Vijay: But isn’t dropping all intentions itself an intention?

Sri Sri: Yes, but that intention is the last and necessary intention. Dropping the intentions is not an act – just the intention to drop the intentions itself serves the purpose. Dropping all intentions even for a moment brings you in touch with your Self – that instant meditation happens.

While you sit for meditation you have to let the world be the way it is. The repetition of meditation is to habituate our system to be able to stop and start activity at will. The ability to do this consciously is a very precious skill.
