A letter from Neale Donald Walsch

My
dear friends...
Please forgive me if it feels as though my addressing
you in this way seems a bit too familiar, but you see, I feel as though you are among my dearest friends on this planet in
many ways, chiefly because (and I assume this is true) your life has been touched in the same unique way as my own.
In 1993, when I experienced my first conscious
conversation with God, I felt a sense of spiritual and emotional freedom the likes of which, before that moment, I could not
have imagined. Yes, I felt set free. But not "free" in the sense of having an ability to escape. No. Rather, "free" in the
sense of finally having a desire to stay.
All I had wanted all of my life was to be
able to stay in my relationship with God and not be afraid, not be worried, not be scared of what might happen if I offended
God, or sinned against God, or in some way did not measure up to Divinity's Requirement (whatever that was). For instance,
I even worried that although felt I was a fairly nice man who had committed very few major "sins" in my life, I might still
not "get to heaven" simply because I had mistakenly chosen the "wrong religion" through which to approach God.
The idea that God, despite our loyalty, will
condemn us to everlasting damnation for having come to Him along the "wrong path" is not one held by only a few. Billions
of people hold firm to the same belief. They also hold the belief that we have to somehow "pay for our sins"-all the mistakes
and bumblings and fumblings of this life-after we die. And that idea has made death an incredibly scary experience, when it
could, in fact, be the most peaceful and serene, the most gentle and wonderful, the most graceful and joy-filled one of all-a
simple falling asleep...not unlike after one has made love with a Beloved Other. Oh, gosh...shouldn't life itself be
a "making love" to God? And shouldn't our idea of death be one of a serene and joyful afterglow?
Yes! And Conversations with God has made
it so for me, and I hope, for you.
Now if you could take that sense of freedom
and peace that CwG has brought to your soul and bring it to others, would you wish to do so? I want you to know that for just
$2 a week, you can do that. For this is the work of the Conversations with God Foundation, and for .30-cents a day you could
join us in this work, and make it your own.
If we could receive a regular contribution
every month from every reader of Conversations with God, we could change the world's mind about God. And that, my friends,
could change the world itself.
Many people hear our appeal every so often
and, in their wonderful generosity, send us a contribution. Occasionally, a fairly large one. And we are always so grateful.
But you know what? What sustains us are the small, regular contributions that come in month after month through the year.
For about the cost of a Sunday newspaper,
you can now touch the lives of people all over the globe with spiritual insights so profound, so meaningful, and so clear,
that others, too, can be set free. Ours is a Civil Rights Movement for the Soul, freeing humanity at last from the oppression
of its beliefs in a violent, angry, and vindictive God.
Thank you for acknowledging the source of
your own spiritual nourishment through a small, regular contribution to the non-profit educational Foundation that brings
this message to the world. Remember-you can change a life for the cost of a Sunday paper. Please go to
With love and thanks,
Neale Donald Walsch
