I have been wanting to explore the advent of Jonathan, Rick Giles, to our 'teaching staff' here in the Teaching Mission.
The Latest transcript from North Idaho (No. Idaho Team 2013-05-19) contains a wonderful lesson of his
about the changes that we are going through here as Urantian participants
in the correcting time. He is a remarkable teacher as he was a remarkable
associate and friend here with us.
As one of us he was a man who had
a business and supported his family, was part of the North Idaho TeaM
as a T/R and as a student and participated in the Association of Light
and Life as an officer.
He died suddenly and unexpectedly and now has
joined the 'teaching staff' of the North Idaho TeaM seemingly at their
invitation. Here is a transcript of him addressing the North Idaho
TeaM 0n April 21, 2013:
"Mark: I'm inspired to invoke the presence of our friend Jonathan [Rick Giles]. I have the lyrics to one of his songs which I would share to get the
ball rolling here this morning. He wrote a song called gospel in which he
distills down in four lines some of the basic tenants of the gospel of the
Master. The first tenant is the description of love in which he says love
is the desire to do good to others, the desire to do good to each other.
These are rounds which go round and round as we have sung at these Michael
birthday gatherings. The next round is I love my God with all my heart, all
my mind, strength and soul. The next is I will love my neighbor as myself,
I will love my neighbor as myself. The last line is I will do for you as
you would do for me and you would do for me as I would do for you and we
will treat each other as we will come to see, the way God would treat each
of us, you and me. Thank you Rick.
"Jonathan: [Mark] Good morning this morning my friends, I am Jonathan here willing to accept the offer made to participate with you here this morning. I am also honored to have one of my compositions remembered and I will weave this into the conversation, that the lyrics to such a song as
this are as the pathways or the avenues you discussed earlier. Each one is
a thought pattern which is distilled into its essence and when revisited
repeatedly, can bring you to the essence of that thought pattern. I take
for example the simple statement, the definition of love, that it is simple,
it is just the desire to do good to each other. It is not a complicated thing
but it is a multifaceted thing. It takes on many many characteristics and
dimensions and yet in its most simple and basic definition it all comes down
to the simple desire to do good and everyone, anyone, has a relationship
with this; this concept resides deep within everyone. They know it when they
experience it and most of them would naturally refer to it as this sensation
of love.
"And so it is that you proceed to find the many pathways before
you in the direction of your desires and after finding and traversing some
of these pathways, you are then able to distill to the essence the meaning and value contained in the pathway and by invoking the same symbol that you design to stand for this avenue you are able to revisit it quickly and easily. This is of course, one of the main values of prayer and stillness,
to go revisit these spaces, to go check in again with the stable island of
spirit that you find in these places. In so doing you reinforce and re-infuse
this action with meaning and value and come away from it enriched and you
find it even more attractive to revisit and even easier to recreate with
each attempt made.
"This all hinges on your dedication of what resources
you have to allocate, what energies you choose to donate because all these
pathways, all these neural networks are formed as a result of your practice,
your efforts, your repeated intentions. There is no substitute and so they represent your choices, they represent your intentions, they are what you have grown in the process by your own choosing and then they are yours; as you are wont to say, you own them at this point and no one can detract or take away from what you have gained and earned in the process,
rather they accompany you as an aspect of your being once they are internalized
and will be with you for the rest of your experience. They will even be with
us all as we share these experiences into the Supreme. They will benefit
us all, this learning of these pathways into spirit, this dedication of individual
energies which represents such a divine word oriented choice.
"Thank you very much for thinking of me. In this way I truly am part of the group still and even further I thank you for inviting me to join and making it possible by virtue of this network that we have built and continue to support between us. It is a cherished link and so I cherish it and I thank you. I will now open up the forum as I know there are always
more participants eager to be involved. Good day to you all."

The arrival of Jonathan as a TeaM Teacher is an event of very great import
to us here on this side of the "veil" as we have come to call the divide
between the seen material reality in which we live and the unseen morontia
reality in which we also abide. We are taught that there is no death
- which our beloved Master, Jesus, demonstrated upon His resurrection
but we have, nevertheless, continued to fear the event of death because
of our dark ignorance and our co-dependent relationships.
Jonathan's
return as a teacher has certainly enlarged our view of the afterlife
that was originally presented to us through the resurrection of Jesus.
These are all very significant teachings that are being presented to us by the Teaching Mission curriculum and I truly value it all.
Join me, if you will, in appreciation and thanksgiving for our Teaching Mission experience.

#4565 A New Picture, May 25, 2013 God said: There is a theory that everything that is written, that everything that
happens was destined to happen. Sometimes it certainly seems this way. Not always, but sometimes, sometimes often, it appears
that two people, for instance, were fated to meet and marry, whether the marriage works out or not. We have talked about this
before, Destiny vs. Free Will. Perhaps Free Will is your Destiny, or Destiny is your Free Will. Be that as it may, there
is some value in thinking that what is past was destined. Whether what happened is to your credit or to your dismay, there
is value in thinking that it was destined. Thinking that it was destined will save you a lot of woe. Thinking that all the
past was destined makes you face the fact, without discussion, that there is nothing you can do about it now. The concept
of Destiny may keep you out of the trap of ruing, regretting, crying about the past. The idea of Destiny may get it through
your head that there is no point in crying over spilt milk. There is not a better way to say this than crying over spilled
milk? How much of your time on Earth have you spent in regret and trying to relive and remake the past? How much time
have you spent carting the past around with you when you could have gotten on with your life? How much time have you wasted
in wishing you could go back in time and erase what passed and do it over and make it new? How you have wanted to undo the
past and say something else or say nothing or to speak up when you had been silent? In a way, you are a writer of your
life. Unlike a writer, you can’t rewrite. You can’t cross out. In a way, every day you write a chapter.
And when the day is over, that particular chapter is finished. That chapter is closed. It has to be left as it is. Now
there is something else, however. Although it makes great sense to leave a past chapter alone, and I recommend wholeheartedly
that you not turn back, there also can be value in revisiting a chapter that is over. Can you guess what this possible advantage
of going over an unchangeable chapter could be? What I think of is that you may see the exact same chapter in a different
way. What you were convinced was a mistake may in a later re-reading seem not like a mistake at all but just right. The chapter
is the same, yet you see it with new eyes. Upon this second reading, you may not seem to be the oaf you had thought you were.
Is this not a good thing? You are not spending time agonizing over the past. Rather, you are seeing the past in a new light!
You digest it differently, and that is all the difference in the world. So, what if you could have the idea that not
only is the past finis, the past was also right. It held more merit
than you ever attributed to it. Beloveds, every chapter that is written, no matter how homely, how winsome, how troublesome,
led you to where you are today. With this realization, would you then be so quick to knock it? A particular chapter may have
been a broken step, one you wished you had skipped, but what if, no matter what, it was a good step because it led you to
where you are today? Are you not indeed in a good place when My words are before you today and you are reading them
and letting them become part of you? |
