Heavenletter #5022 Love and Laughter Meet in Your Heart, August 25, 2014

God said:

As you grow, and you do grow, you begin to see and enjoy the comic aspects of life. Yes, comic. What you once took so very seriously, you no longer do. It’s like you play a game of solitaire, and you spread the cards out, and you can see how they present themselves, one after the other, in a sequence never dealt before. The cards fall into place, and they are just cards falling into place. Not serious at all.

Yes, life is comic. You have to admit this. Life is indeed a comedy. A lovely result of life is its laughter. Carry a laughter meter with you, and you will find out how you are doing in life. You can even laugh through your tears.

What in life is not comical? Or, perhaps, you prefer the word bizarre, or weird, or unpredictable. Isn’t what makes you laugh the unpredictable? Isn’t the punch line of a joke something you don’t see coming? There is even laughter again and again. Every time laughter is a surprise. And why not laughter?

You do not mock life, yet you do not take it so seriously. You can have a healthy respect for life and still not get run over by it.

Much of life is a mountain made of a mole hole. Is this not so in retrospect?

Oh, yes, starting now, don’t take life so seriously. Enjoy it instead. Enjoy life ahead of time, during its instant play. Enjoy the free-fall, and enjoy the thud. Go out into the world and seek your fortune. Your fortune is a sense of humor. Do you hear the Good Humor Ice Cream Truck now? Hear the bell of laughter ringing. Ting-a-ling. Humor coming up, one peal of laughter after another.

Laughter isn’t frivolous. It is a serious cure to what ails you. Stomp in laughter. Circle the sky in laughter. Life is worth a laugh. Laughter is a saving grace. Laughter puts a twinkle in your eye. Laughter is a perspective you come from. It works, for is not life as it pours itself out often absurd? Unbelievable? Remarkable? Laughable?

It has been said that life is a cosmic dance. Let Us think of life as a comic dance, a kind of free-for-all dance, a come-as-you-are dance. Pretty soon you won’t be able to stop laughing. You will have all kinds of laughter. The laughter where you say: “Humph.” And knee-slapping laughter, and tee-hee laughter, and you will have raucous laughter. You will have convulsive laughter, and you will have laughter that you don’t know why you are laughing.

You will wake up laughing, and you will go to sleep laughing, and your days will be laughter, laughter, laughter.

You will be a comedian in your own right. You will have more and more laughter like birds singing in the trees. Hearts will sing with laughter. Wherever you go, laughter will accompany you. It won’t be your shadow accompanying you – it will be your light! Laughter will light your way, and it will light the way of others.

All will put down what they have been carrying as burdens. Who needs them? What fun are they? Put your burdens down. There is no rule that you have to take burdens along with you. They are ballast you don’t need. Burdens are not your babies. You can leave them. Do not consider burdens and responsibilities as the same. It is responsible to not take life quite so seriously. Remember, there is a God. Give Me your burdens while you take care of your responsibilities and make them light as a feather. Whip out your responsibilities with lightness of heart. Pull out your sense of humor. Look at how love and laughter meet in your heart.

Urantia.
Teacher: Mentori Spokesperson.
Subject: “Un-cluttering the Mind.”

Received by Lytske.

Mentor: “In order to have a useful interchange of thoughts, it is necessary for you to start un-cluttering your mind, which would be a most beneficial habit to acquire. Especially the mercurial minds, such as those of most mortals in the western half of this planet, have become used to their ‘multi-tasking’. Therefore it would be a useful thing to look at the example of some of your Eastern brothers and sisters, who from early childhood on are more of a habit to engage in daily periods of prayer and meditation. Among them are to be found increasingly more geniuses, and the reason for this is that in these periods of meditation they give their mind a rest so it has a chance to un-clutter.

“The reason why I bring this subject to your mind is because so many ‘slumbering intellects’ on this earth never make use of their full potential, as even now with all their ‘so-called’ religious upbringing, the idea has never occurred to them that an interchange of thought is possible with their Spark from God within.

“As yet, most humans are in the dark about that wonderful Spirit Light within them, which is ever ready to light their path before them, to help incline their thoughts to higher levels, and in doing so, tap the secrets of the Universe they live in.

“How awesome and promising it would be if more mortals would set themselves the task of un-cluttering their minds and participate in a whole-hearted interchange of thought with the God of their being. The Creator has been most generous in time-space in helping his evolving children by giving them life, free will, and brilliant minds, which is theirs to develop as they see fit.

“Our function as Mentori, being a group of advanced Teachers from higher realms, is to point out certain potential improvements, as hardly anyone on this sadly backward planet is living up to their true latent abilities in this very important time in the history of the planet. Especially is this so, as some nations, which have attained a semblance of maturity, still choose to maintain one leg in the long-ago cave times in a highly unstable industrialized world.

“The question begs to be posed why the practice of diplomacy has never entered into these low-level thinking minds, to be cultivated for the benefit of the whole planet, so peace and true prosperity for all gets a chance to unfold.

“Rather than persisting with this low level thinking, do start acting as behooves the promising children of God. Get out of your sandboxes and settle down to some serious studying about why the Creator has bestowed all these many gifts which still lay dormant in the human psyche. Do start un-cluttering your minds of negative thoughts and start worthwhile thought-exchanges on a higher level with your Spirits from God within, to thereby in eternity become able to look back on your earth-life with a minimum of regrets.”

The Practice of Concentration
Fix the mind on some object, within the body or without. Keep it there, steadily, for some time. This is concentration. Practise this daily.
Ethical perfection is a matter of paramount importance. You can concentrate internally on any of the seven centres of spiritual energy. A man who is filled with passion and fantastic desires can hardly concentrate at all, even for a second. His mind jumps around like a monkey.
Sit in the lotus pose. Gaze gently at the tip of the nose. Practise this for one minute in the beginning, gradually increasing it to half an hour. This steadies the mind and develops the power of concentration. Keep this up even as you walk about.
Or, sit in the lotus pose, fixing the mind between the eyebrows. Do this gently for half a minute. Gradually increase to half an hour or more. This removes tossing of the mind and develops concentration. Select either of these methods.
If you want to increase your power of concentration, you will have to reduce your worldly activities. You will have to observe the vow of silence every day for two hours or more.
When the mind runs from an object, bring it back again and again. When concentration is deep and intense, the senses cannot operate. He who practises concentration for three hours a day will have tremendous psychic power and will power.

You should steadily direct your gaze towards the tip of the nose (nasikagra drshti) and keep the mind fixed on the Self only. In chapter five, verse 25 of the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says: "Having made the mind abide in the self, let him not think of anything." Another gaze is gazing between the eyebrows. Do not strain the eyes; practise gently.
When you practise concentration on the end of the nose, you will experience various sorts of fragrance. When you concentrate on the ajna chakra (eyebrow centre), you will experience divya jyoti (divine light). This will give you encouragement. It will push you up the spiritual path and convince you of the existence of transcendental things. Do not stop your sadhana (practice) now.
