Subject: “My Guidance to You”

Spirit Within:
“My child, I welcome the opportunity to present this message to you once more in a conscious way, even a written way. The fact that at times you may not be conscious of my messages to you does not mean that I am not providing you with guidance for I simply do not tire My incessant work associated with your mind is to offer you guidance by countering your every thought with thoughts that reflect the perfect will of the Father in all situations.

“Most often, though, the realization of the perfect will of God is beyond your grasp and your ability to practice. You really only perceive a modified version of it, according your own way of thinking. My guidance to you is perfect, but your perception of it is other than perfect. I have patiently worked with your thoughts, every one of them that is of spiritual import. The progress accrued, considering the maximum benefit possible, is in fact little, but considering your short and overwhelming materialized life on Urantia, it is above average and you have come a long way.

“My work with you in this life is not finished, although you sometimes think it is when in fact, it has only begun. There is much, very much, you can yet accomplish in the spiritual arena of your life; you have discovered the primacy of love in life, but the reason why your progress comes to a stalemate sometimes is due to your over-attachment to your conscious and material life. Come, my child, reach the upper room, where the mind of the Master resides with Me; where the truth imparted by the Spirit of Truth is not only intellectual, but also empowering. Dare to let go, for you will be safe with Me. Come to commune with Me, your Spirit Self, because from Me the ‘rivers of living waters will flow.’

“I will never stop working in you, my child. You have already tasted what I can give you. There is much more in store for you — infinitely more. Although I reside in you, in connection with your mind, we are now still ‘next’ to each other, but the day will come when I will be one with you. I will be you, and then my revelations to you will be shared in God, the Supreme, and further beyond, in God, the Ultimate. While you should not try to artificially force yourself into the ‘next level,’ reaching it should be your constant goal. My resources and abilities have long been ready for you; will you use them?”

Have you heard the expression:

“To the victor belong the spoils.”

In the old days, the soldiers who won a war had license to pillage the villages. The winners could take anything they wanted. They stole. It was considered that they had the right. It was considered that taking from another made the winner notable and worthy.

Spoils, in this case, mean the winnings. The winner gets the winnings. That makes sense only in the world because the thinking is that a winner triumphs, so he must win something. In Truth, whatever a victor’s winnings may be, he hasn’t won anything. The world says he won. What he has won may be nothing except a few pats on the back and a swelling of his ego. This is a poor profit from winning. The victor may have the wool pulled over his eyes. He has been fooled. Of course, people fool themselves. The idea of winning can become insatiable.

This idea of being the foremost reminds Me of Sleeping Beauty’s wicked stepmother who had to be the Fairest in all the land. She had to stand out. If she had to be the winner, others had to lose. She plied a certain kind of war. Her life certainly was made up of selfishness. In such a case, what can be won but controversy?

Nothing wrong with a good-hearted good-spirited playing of a game. Play well. One team won, the other lost, so the world says, yet both teams have played well. Congratulations!

We can say that to the Holy belong the spoils. In this case, the Holy are those who seek good for all. The Holy are humble. They gained the advantage of humility. Humility says that it’s all right for someone else to get there first. From the moment the Holy became holy, they win everything. Holiness is the prize. Holiness is Wholeness. Wholeness is simple. There aren’t all the extraneous doo-dads that have been added.  Holiness is not performance-minded. One who has gained Holiness is thinking of more than himself or of his team and of pride in ownership. Holiness doesn’t sacrifice anything. Holiness comes out ahead.

With married couples, when someone has to win, both lose.

Perhaps when you were in second grade, you had the best penmanship. For the moment you won over everyone else. You didn’t ask to be singled out. You have a very dear sweet memory. May you have many.

Yet no wonder there is such a tendency in the world to think that happiness is awarded to you from outside. The world cultures the idea that you have to wait for happiness to be bestowed upon you. In fact, it is you who bestows happiness upon yourself. No one can give you happiness. Someone can try as he may, and he can’t make you happy. He can dance on his head, and he can’t make you happy. Only you can make yourself happy. Everyone has to claim his own happiness. Happiness is self-appointed.

Happiness isn’t delivered to you, not really. You are the one who sits waiting for happiness. If it doesn’t arrive the way you want it to, you conclude that you are unhappy. Truly, happiness is something you choose. You decide it. You declare it.

This reminds Me of a young dauphin in a story. When the dauphin was to be punished for misbehavior, his friend and companion had to take the dauphin’s punishment. This is how it was in the world at that time.

Yet when the young dauphin became ill and was dying, he asked whether his friend could die in his place. The dauphin’s bereft mother and father, the King and Queen, had to tell their son that no, his friend cannot die in his place.

So it is with happiness as well. No one can give you a passport to happiness. This you have to do for yourself.

The Ladder of Yoga
There are people who have not been able to serve their preceptors, who have not done any selfless service, or any devotional practices, who have not had the heart to treat other children with the affection they show to their own, who may not have had the heart to help others who were in severe distress - and yet, they sit and speak high philosophy. They sit and speak of cosmic love, of cosmic vision and of their own spiritual experiences and realisation (brahma jnana). They repeat the mantra Sivoham Sivoham ("I am Siva") - or the mantra Aham Brahma Asmi ("I am the infinite") - every few minutes. They wish to be in contact with great avataras (incarnations of God) this very second.
Place your foot, step by step, very cautiously, on the different rungs of the ladder of yoga. Ascend very gradually to the summit. Be earnest in your sadhana (practice). Equip yourself with the necessary qualifications. Do not waste your time in search of a preceptor. When you are ready, you will enter the halls of wisdom. And there, waiting on the threshold, you will find your preceptor.
Sage Vasishta says: "I assure you; on the authority of my own intuitional knowledge, as well as that of other illumined souls, that the reality can be realised by man. But one who has known it cannot communicate it to others, for want of means." Even the knowledge acquired by the five senses, which are common to all, cannot be communicated to others. You cannot tell the taste of butter to a man who has never tasted it. Nor can you communicate the idea of colour to a man born blind.
All that a teacher can do is to tell his disciple the method of knowing the truth. All he can do is to tell the disciple of the path that leads to unfoldment of the intuitional faculty.
If you have a burning desire, like Lord Buddha, if you possess patience and forgiveness, and if you have devotion to the preceptor - then you can contact avataras and sages right now, this very second.

Just in proportion as we knock,
shall it be opened unto us,
and in proportion to our seeking
shall we find.
Seek and you will find has been the
promise, but if you are not hungry,
if you think you have already found,
you will never reach your hand toward mine.
There is, of course,
an indescribable difference
between knowing me
and just knowing about me,
as you will shortly realize
if you continue your efforts to live upward.
St. Ignatius says that, a single hour of
meditation has taught him more truths about
heavenly things than all the teachings of all
the doctors put together could have taught him.
Meditate: Meditation is the door to the realm of
the Soul, and inspiration is the way. The begin-
ning of our new birth, life begins to have a new
meaning, the exploration awaiting you is a
fascinating joyous, rewarding experience, an
adventure that must be kept as an adventure.
Develop intuition, sit quietly with a "listening"
ear, and learn to wait for the "still small voice"
of your indwelling consciousness at the core of
your being, who will redirects you when you
wander, perfection is waiting for you everywhere.
Turn to me in faith and let me reveal it to you and
enter into your natural habitat.
You shall only rest perfectly in Me, and in the
sure knowing that I am the real you.
If you go back to thinking you cannot know me
until after death, you are likely to wait until after
death to feel anything about me at all, especially
if you have been deceived into believing that your
soul's future is secured through membership in
some church.
It is only as we continue in our spiritual studies and
meditation that we eventually become aware of an
inner conflict. We enjoy moments of mountain
experiences; we tumble unto the valley of uncertainty;
we achieve victories and then experience failure; we
alternate between apparent good and evil, success and
failure, spirituality and mortality. This is the inner
conflict that becomes evident as the warfare between
the flesh and the Spirit. This will only end as we drop
the mortal or corporeal sense and achieve the
consciousness of spiritual existence.
We are now finding less of self in our existence and
thereby making room for the revelation and unfoldment
of our divine Self. In this Self, we discover our
completeness and the infinity of our being. Here also we
discover the reason for our existence.
Trust God, everything you need will come to you at the
perfect time.
Go now into Love -
Love beyond thought,
beyond feeling,
beyond cause and effect.
In this Ever-Present Love,
the Supreme Essence redeems
all that has gone before.

What Else Matters When There Is Love.
