Subject: “Idolatry.”

Received by Renée.

Teacher of Mine: “Idolatry is a concept steeped in a great deal of fear and surrounded by emotional ‘heaviness’ since peoples in ancient times used totems and built real material likenesses of animals. Some worshiped individual humans, characterizations of natural phenomenon, suns, stars, and even parts of the human anatomy.

“Idols are commonly part of the infancy of an evolutionary religion. They become enculturated, and rituals – often superstitions in nature and fear based rituals – spring up around the use of idols symbolic of power and prosperity, fertility, beauty, wisdom, all the wants and desires of the individuals projected onto a physical symbol. This is the need the developing human mind has for the pacification of fears, and the need which the more primitive part of the human personality has for symbol identification, and the gratification that can come with the crude form of worship associated with what essentially amounts to ego-needs or creature-needs.

“This form of crude and immature worship is frequently steeped in superstition and magical thinking, a curious mixture of selfishness and admiration, and veneration for natural phenomenon, and often the processes involving creation, procreation, growth, birth, development, sexual activity, all life-supporting or life-giving observable phenomenon.

“The advancement of evolutionary religion depends on the receptivity of individuals within a society to real spiritualizing forces and the learning abilities of these receptive individuals to attune to the indwelling Adjuster and the Mind Adjutants of Mother Spirit, as well as in more recent times – since Christ Michael’s bestowal on Urantia – the Spirit of Truth.

“The clinging of evolutionary religions to symbology is not necessarily always detrimental to advancing Truth, but the profound and fundamental understanding for advancement of an evolutionary religion is in fact the acceptance of the Creator’s Indwelling within the heart and mind of each human, and in association with the concept-belief in a growing ‘spirit entity’ within the human – the morontia soul.”

Heavenletter #5065 Live God’s Dreams for You , October 7, 2014

God said:

Like breathing, life inhales and exhales. Whatever you are involved in, you are involved in life. If you are in a cave, you are involved in life. If you are in a crowded restaurant on top of the Empire State Building, you are involved in life. Wherever you are, whoever you may think you are, you are involved in life.

Life is the chair you sit on. It is the road you walk on. Life is the sky you look up at. You are not only the Light of the World, you are also the Life of the World.

We can say that you are a petal of each flower. Rose or dandelion, it doesn’t matter.

If We say that life is a bicycle, you pedal it. If life is a car, you drive it. If life is an airplane, you fly it. You are the sun in the morning, and the moon at night. You are the stars when seen or unseen. You are the Universe in all its glory.

You are Everything to Me. You are My reason for Creation. You and Creation go together. You are no more separated from Life than you and I are separated. Oneness is. There is richer meaning to Oneness than you may have considered. Oneness is far more than a cozy expression. It is the Ultimate Expression.

Life is Infinite while the world is temporary. Or is the world temporary? Many layers of life go on all at once. You can be two places at one time. Although there is no time really, and no place really, you can be ten places at one time, something like the way notes combine in music. All is Infinite. There are no endings and, therefore, no conclusions. Oneness is simple, yet it is multi-dimensioned. Oneness does not mean only one striation.

Infinite are colors, and Infinite are you. You are Infinity stirring life on Earth.

Now We come to the thought that Infinity, Eternity, life on Earth, are kind of like a divine stew, a slumgullion stew made of All That Is. Life may look to you like a stew made from leftovers, yet it is a divine stew just the same. Common and divine. Ordinary yet remarkable. A new stew every moment.

How happy you would be if you could embrace all that comes before you. There are many delicious flavors. Enjoy them. You don’t want to be too picky. Be inclusive, not exclusive, for exclusive is restrictive.

My children are more than three musketeers. You are more like three skillion musketeers, infinite musketeers, all for one and one for all. This is life whether you want it to be this way or you don’t.

You are here on Earth for expansion. Even a dot on the horizon is an opportunity for expansion. Life in the world has to be bigger than you have thought. You may work at home in a small space, yet, nevertheless, you are not isolated. You march in the Parade of Life. Within all the dimensions, you are also dimensionless.

You are in the process of finding out. You are here on Earth to explore. So explore. Unbind yourself. Even if you are confined to bed, you can unbind yourself. You are far more than your body. You are far more than your present body. You can go anywhere. You can see anywhere. You are a seer.

My dreams are not idle dreams, and I dreamed of you. I combined elements. I tossed you on the potter’s wheel, and I knew what I was doing. You are not an accident. You are not a mistake. You are not to contract yourself. You are to expand your horizons.

You are coming to love. This is what all of life is for. Expansion of love and light and life.

Celebrate life. Dream your dreams. Live your dreams. Live My dreams for you.

What is Vedanta?
Om. Vedanta is that bold philosophy which teaches the unity of life or oneness of consciousness. It is that supreme philosophy which boldly proclaims, with emphasis and force, that this little jiva (human being) is identical with the eternal or Absolute. It is that sublime philosophy which elevates the mind at once to magnanimous heights of Brahmanhood, divine splendour and glory, which makes a man absolutely fearless, which destroys all barriers that separate man from man and which brings concord, unruffled peace and harmony to suffering humanity. It is the only philosophy that can really unite (on the basis of one common Self in all) a Hindu and a Mohammedan, a Catholic and a Protestant, an Irishman and an Englishman, a Jain and a Parsee, in a common platform and in the core of their own hearts also. It is the only philosophy that, when properly understood and practised, can put a definite stop to world wars and all sorts of dissensions, splits and skirmishes that exist in nations and communities.
Vedanta is a magnetic healing balm for the wounded and the afflicted in the dreadful battlefield of this dire samsara (phenomenal existence). Vedanta is the divine collyrium which removes the cataract of ignorance and gives a new, inner eye of intuition or wisdom. Vedanta is the direct, royal road to the domain of felicity; it is the supreme abode of immortality and eternal bliss. It is a panacea, a 'cure-all' for those who are being burned by the three fires and the five afflictions of this miserable mundane existence. It is the Himalayan herb that can bring immediate life to a dying man. It lifts a man, at once, to the status of Emperor of emperors, King of kings even though he has nothing to eat; even though he is clad in rags.
Vedanta gives real spiritual strength; it inspires, renovates, vivifies, invigorates and energises. It eradicates ignorance the root cause for human sufferings. It puts a stop to the never ending wheel of birth and death and confers immortality, infinite knowledge and bliss. It gives hope to the hopeless, power to the powerless, vigour to the vigourless and joy to the joyless.
Vedanta is the only universal, eternal religion. Vedanta means 'end of the vedas' or the essence of the teaching of the shrutis (scriptures).
