Drawing The Line

In every care zone relationship there comes a moment when we have had enough, we draw the proverbial line in the sand and reject anything that is not on our side of it. While that may feel empowering, it is also our way of ignoring our responsibility for the existence of the people, situations and relationships that we have been caring for. There are more productive ways to assert our power than slamming the door in the faces of the people we want to love us. We draw the line but without knowing what we are for, by having boundaries, we are just moving energy from one place to the next. Our boundaries can be tall fences, surrounded by impenetrable moats or a protective force field of love.

We draw the line when we feel so unfulfilled, hurt and angry that we want to show everyone how upset we are. Since we have no way of affecting how others interpret what they can think of as our temper tantrum, we risk looking foolish and childish. But why wait until we are so emotionally and energetically exhausted that we feel our only solution is to shut everyone out? Even if it does make us feel better, we don't get closure or validation and we are not able to obtain what we want from everyone and everything that is in our care zone-love.

We try to be nice to everyone but what we want from those in our care zone is their love and respect. That's our agenda and theirs, since they want someone to love them too. If they don't return our efforts we reject them in the same way we feel they have rejected us. And everyone loses. We feel taken advantage of, they think we're being unreasonable and we have engaged in another powerless interchange. The boundaries we need are an extension of our self love and this is the only boundary that keeps people out by requiring that all those who enter have the capacity to love us because they also love themselves.

Boundaries help limit what we will give of our time, emotions and energy and are less about keeping others out than keeping our energy balanced. With boundaries, the message others hear from us is "I love myself so you can love me too," instead of "Love me so I can love myself more." There is no one in the world who can fill us with love if we do not have a foundation of love in our lives. So each person we feel the need to care for, instead of caring about, is our lesson in learning to love that part of ourselves so we invite people to our care zone because they are caring, loving and have all the love to give us that we can can give us all the love we can embrace because we don't need or ask for it.

How wonderful, what a Miracle !!!!!!!!!

I smoke really sparingly - a stick or two a day, so no urgency to quit although it was such a dirty habit. After your mail on quiting, I immediately called on Archangel Micheal asking him why he did not let me know earlier for he is my guiding Angel. A few minutes after this transmission, I felt nauseated just at the thought of it; the desire even for company or pleasure just suddenly disappeared.
